i use e71…that’s so cool dude….
The E71 is a good business mobile, it’s internet connectavity is fast, allthough the 3MP camera takes excellent photos in the day, indoor and night time photos are very bad. Nokia should do something to improve this flaw.
I was most impressed to learn that with the Nokia E71 not only can you edit documents (powerpoint, worksheets, word) but you can also create them, right from the phone. I played around with it while creating powerpoint presentations with picture attachments, this just blew me away. However I also agree that indoor and night time photos are poor while outdoor photos are very good, who cares anyway, this phone was purely made for business.
Nokia Maps is worse than a disappointment, it’s a joke. Nokia built what looks like a nice application but the idea of having to pay for directions is unbelievable. For the price of a one year license I can buy a standalone GPS device with it’s own battery and built-in MP3 player.
I am so disgusted with my phone right now, and frankly embarrassed for having paid $500 of my good money for the privilege of having a phone I’m coming to hate.
Here’s a litany of issues I’ve run into so far:
1. Camera quality is terrible and the flash makes night time pictures of such gross appearance that I cannot share them
2. Every time I restart my phone (which is at least 1/day) I get an annoying installer message telling me a piece of software could not be installed. Resetting the phone to factory settings did not make this go away.
3. Network Connection method is inconsistent and annoying. There may be times I would want to specify a connection method, but there should be an “automatic” option that uses the fastest connection method available (like my iphone) so that I don’t have to pick and choose as I move around throughout my day.
4. EasyWLAN access point is pointless if it doesn’t remember passwords between connections. It’s worse than useless because it constantly prompts me to re-enter the network password.
5 I have a camera and a GPS radio in the same device, but I have to use separate software to geotag pictures. Annoying and pointless. It should be built-in.
6. No acceleromitor; fine. but I should be able to rotate *and save* my pictures so that I can send them off in the correct orientation without having to buy more software or upload the picture to my desktop or the web before getting it right.
7. No Automatic Connection to my desktop via PCSuite/Bluetooth. My last phone, a Nokia e62, would automatically connect to my desktop whenever I was in range and would sync up my calendar and contacts. Why doesn’t my e71 do at least as much?
8. Nokia Maps is so overpriced as to be a joke by itself. I have two words: Google Maps. It may not provide voice navigation, but it’s fast easy-to-use, and it has a great price: free. I bought my new phone knowing it had a GPS and Nokia maps, but not knowing I would have to pay to get anything useful out of it.
Perhaps the most annoying thing to me so far is that my early evangelism of this device to my friends prompted one of them to go out an buy one for himself, at $500 plus credit card interest. I am embarrassed and hope that he never asks me what I think of mine again, because I don’t want to tell him how much of a sucker I feel like for paying $500 cash out of pocket for mine.
My first generation iPhone is missing a lot of features like MMS, tethering, and video capture. but by and large everything it *does* do, it does well, transparently and reliably.
I’m saddended to see what a turn Nokia has taken. Unless Nokia releases some type of software patch or some form of improvement for my e71 soon, I will be telling people to stick with an iphone or blackberry becuase nokia seems to be trending down in quality and features.
For my own sake, I hope that Nokia will get this phone straightned out and that I won’t end up in the same basket that the poor sods who bought the e61 ended up in when Nokia finally got it right with the e61i. $500 is a lot of money to spend on something that is a constant source of annoyance. Please fix this phone ASAP.

David is right, I encountered this bug too. I remember, I had to format my memory card just to be able to remove this annoying message..

Bought d fone dis week. Tough choosing it against Nokia N95-8gig which is a power fone. My experience with N95 1st edition power battery performance made me go for E71: ItS beauty got me. Sleek & stylish, though almost femining. D browse is quite fast. D Camera passable comparable with my Samsung i780 which generally frustrated me.
My main problem is small prints/tiny letters. Also that d buttons dont lit up at nite. A comment about its poor batt life is untrue as after almost 2 days mine was still half full with good usage. For now am ok as d fone is still thrilling me.
Phone like all world in my hand. Buttan useing very nice. Its handy net brouser & sufaring fast.
picture setup very poor,to much of a big error for a phone like this,but it services me properly internate availability and speed

Hi i want to thank Nokia for this Phone , i am a Happy nigerian user of the phone although my network provider does not have many facilities to upgrade with the Phone but the little i can get done with it is worth the pay

-can’t personalize a ringtone to a person without creating groups
-doesn’t show remaining battery life in %
-one tone for all alarms
-can’t set additional contacts info in phonebook
-hand strap at the wrong side of direction (for right handed)
-no touch screen
-nice & sleek design
-nice color of choices
yo pixy.. you can personalize contact ringtones.. no need to make caller groups.
hi its verygood phone good 4 email n chat good keypad but i ve only prob is when i want 2 see news videos or from web page its not open with real player if u ve any idea 4 that plz email 2 me might be my setting issue i m not sure

Great phone, But camera is not good at night, the buttons are very tiny, the button light does not on at night at times……Fast internet connection… Still the best phone.. Nokia should fix these mess.

I love this Phone very much.But my 44 days old E71 stopped having access to GSM networks irrespective of SIM card of any provider. Once if it losts its reception it fails to regain the reception even the phone is under the Network tower.The phone is able to regain the reception only after a booting.It is able to search and find all available networks but does not connect to the network whose SIM is inserted.I took the phone to the local Nokia service centre.They said the problem is due to some Hardware problem.They send the phone to New delhi for the servicing today.They also said this problem is seen in N-series and E-series.I lost confidence in this phone.And I have to spend 20 days without a phone.Please Help.If a problem like this still exists on an expensive phone like this Why this nokia doesn’t take any adequate steps to solve this?

My Nokia e71 is by far the best Personalised business phone Nokia as come up with. Well some flaws here and there ,no button lights, can’t seem to find the secondary camera function as in N95 but it’s still worth my dime and passes for ‘PHONE OF THE YEAR’. Thanks Nokia
